Songs We Sing

One of the best things about our meetings is the singing. There's nothing quite like dusting off the pipes to get your morning started off on the right foot.

Here is a list of just some of the songs that you may find us singing at our meetings. They are broken into three areas. Smile is a song that we sing every week. The "song of the week" may be a Rotary specific song, or just a generally fun song. A patriotic song is also included each week as is the Pledge of Allegiance.

  Our Regular

Smile -Sing a Song

Smile and the world smiles with you, Sing a song.
Don't be weary, Just be cheery all day long.
Whenever your trials, Your troubles and your cares
Seem to be more than you can really bear
Smile and the world smiles with you, Sing a song.

  Songs of the Week

R-O-T-A-R-Y

R-O-T-A-R-Y, That spells Rotary;
R-O-T-A-R-Y is known on land and sea;
From North and South, from East to West,
He profits most who serves the best;
R-O-T-A-R-Y, That spells Rotary.
R-O-T-A-R-Y, That spells Rotary;
R-O-T-A-R-Y is one great family;
Where friendship binds for man's uplift,
Where each one strives his best to give,
R-O-T-A-R-Y, That spells Rotary.

THIS IS ROTARY!

This is the pledge of Rotary: Service above self!
This is the bond of Rotary: The Brotherhood of man!
For the world is our domain, Where ever man is free,
In the fellowship of men who serve, Rotary!

  Patriotic Songs

America the Beautiful

1. O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties, Above the fruited plain.
America! America! God shed his grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood, From sea to shining sea.

2. O beautiful for pilgrim feet, Whose stern impassion'd stress,
A thoroughfare of freedom beat, Across the wilderness.
America! America! God mend thine ev'ry flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control, Thy liberty in law.

3. O beautiful for heroes prov'd In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved, And mercy more than life.
America! America! May God thine gold refine,
Till all success be nobleness, And ev'ry gain divine.

4. O beautiful for patriot dream That sees beyond the years,
Thine alabaster cities gleam Undimmed by human tears.
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea.

God Bless America

God bless America, land that I love,
Stand beside her and guide her
through the night with a light from above.
From the mountains to the prairies,
to the oceans white with foam.
God bless America, my home sweet home.
God bless America, my home sweet home.

America

1. My country, 'tis of thee, Sweet land of liberty, Of thee I sing.
Land where my fathers died! Land of the Pilgrims' pride!
From ev'ry mountain side, Let freedom ring!

2. My native country, thee, Land of the noble free, Thy name I love.
I love thy rocks and rills, Thy woods and templed hills;
My heart with rapture thrills, Like that above.

3. Let music swell the breeze, And ring from all the trees Sweet freedom's song.
Let mortal tongues awake; Let all that breathe partake;
Let rocks their silence break, the sound prolong.

4. Our father's God, to Thee, Author of liberty, To thee we sing.
Long may our land be bright With freedom's holy light;
Protect us by Thy might Great God, our King!

The National Anthem - Service Version 1.

O say! Can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thru the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that Star-spangled Banner yet wave,
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

2. On the shore, dimly seen thro' the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines on the stream;
'Tis the Star-spangled Banner, O long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

3. O thus be it ever when free men shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation!
Blest with vic'try and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust!"
And the Star-spangled Banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Pledge of Allegiance

I Pledge Allegiance to the flag
of the United States of America
and to the Republic for which it stands,
one Nation under God, indivisible,
with liberty and justice for all.
The Four-Way Test

Is it the truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?
Will it build goodwill and better friendship?
Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
